I feel good … I knew that I would

I’m feeling exceptionally good this morning. I finally got the opportunity to get out for a ride with a couple of fellow cyclists yesterday afternoon. We met up after work for a quick pedal.

You can push yourself pretty hard when you’re cycling alone but there’s nothing quite like riding with others to force yourself to push just a little bit harder and get the heart pumping a bit faster.

We finished the ride with a coffee and a chat. It was good catching up with each other after not riding together for quite a few months.

I now know that I can still hold a reasonable pace but that I need to get a lot more training in over the warmer months. We’ve already arranged to get out for a couple of hours on the weekend for another ride.

Even though I’m on my bike every day to and from work, I’ve really missed the extra rides where I get to really test myself.

What about you? Is there something that you enjoy, something that is an essential part of who you are that you’ve let slip for a while? Maybe you can start planning your new year’s resolutions a little early and give yourself the time you need to get involved in that activity again.

  • Ah yes… caving! I completely identify with your statement about comrades pushing you farther than you would normally push yourself. It’s a good thing. I definitely need to cave more next year.

  • One thing I have really missed over the last 6 months is my training at 98 5 Sonshine FM. With my current job, alot of things have had to go on hold. I hear the announcers, & think that should be me!! I’m looking forward to getting back into it again in 2006.
