There's no business like snow business

What do you do if you want to go snow skiing but there’s not a snowflake’s chance in hell of it snowing where you are?

It never snows here in Perth but I can live with that.

Apparently some people in Dubai weren’t content to go without a snow skiing experience and so they have built a huge ‘indoor’ snow slope called Ski Dubai. In fact there a 5 slopes inside the massive complex.

Their website, which is well worth a visit to get a better understanding of the enormity of the complex, lists some of the features you can experience.

22,500m squared covered with real snow all year round – (equivalent to 3 football fields)
Temperature maintained at a comfortable -1 to -2 degrees
85 meters high (approximately 25 stories) and 80 meters wide
5 different slopes of varying difficulty and length, longest run of 400 meters
Full capacity of 1500 guests
Freestyle park
1/4 pipe snowboard area
3,000m squared Snow Park with a snow cavern
Quad chairlift, tow lift and flying carpets
Mountain resort theme
Use of quality equipment and clothing included in the ticket price
Qualified professional instructors
State of the art ticketing system
Changing areas with locker rental
Private kids party rooms
Exclusive retail shop – Snow Pro
St Moritz Cafe and Avalanche Cafe

Maybe we do need one here in Perth.

  • Hi!

Been reading your blog for a few months(nice!), this is my first comment…

Just thought I’d let you know, there are a few of these in the Netherlands too, where is doesn’t snow much in the winter(if it snows at all), and there’s not hardly any hills either!!
Haven’t actually been to one though(quite pricey, and were not in our area).
Yeah, Perth could certainly use one! The way Perth is growing it could support a few other bigger attractions too, I think. For example another amusement park, there’s only really Adventure World now.

  • Hello Simone

Great to know that you’ve been reading my blog for a while. Thanks for your comments. I hope we’ll hear from you again soon.

I think there have been a few other amusement parks but they didn’t survive in the past. I think you’re right; Perth is growing fast enought to start supporting a few more attractions. Maybe it’s time someone tried another amusement park again.

    Cheers

  • I’ve got an idea!!! Let’s house swap! Brilliant, don’t you think? I’ve got snow, and don’t really appreciate it. You don’t. I can be packed in an hour. I’m leaving the key under the doormat for you. Don’t forget to feed the cats.
