New kid on the block

Australia’s leaders are gathering in Canberra today. The state Premiers are all meeting with our Prime Minister, John Howard.

Up for discussion will be a one billion dollar national health reform package. Thankfully all those involved are already pretty much in agreement so we may see some positive results from the meeting.

Itll be first time for Western Australia’s new premier, Alan Carpenter. ‘Carps’ took over the job recently after the resignation of Dr. Geoff Gallop.

I wonder if it’ll be a bit like the first day of school for Alan Carpenter. Will he make some new friends? Will he find someone to sit with at lunch? I hope no one picks on him. It’s always a little intimidating being the new kid isn’t it?

Somehow I get the feeling that he’ll do just fine.

  • While that was a clever post, I’m not going to try to keep abreast of Australian politics. It would be interesting to try to compare the Australian ways with the USA ways, though.
