It was pretty much a last minute decision on Saturday. James and I had been to Auskick in the morning and then about half an hour before the start of the WAFL game between Swan Districts and West Perth I asked James if he wanted to go watch some footy with me.
We got ourselves organized and headed off to Bassendean Oval to watch the mighty black and whites beat the Falcons. Unfortunately that wasn’t quite the way that it played out. Our team, Swans, got soundly beaten.
The great thing was that we got to watch some good footy. On top of that we went onto the ground at quarter and three quarter time to listen to the Swans coach, Steve Turner, talking to the players. We also spent most of half time on the oval kicking a ball to each other. That’s something you just can’t do at an AFL game.
We’re already planning to head back to Bassendean Oval on Saturday the 22nd of July to see Swans play Peel Thunder. Want to join us? We’re intending to have a bit of a picnic with family and friends and it’d be great to get a big bunch together. It’s just $10 to get through the gate, $6 for concessions and kids under 15 are free. Even if you’re not into football it’ll be a wonderful opportunity to catch up.

Wish I could join you but I live a little too far away.
Glad to hear you had a good time rodney
thanks for the invite but because i dont live in Perth i will pass it up but i hope you have fun
If I can come up with the 2500 and 16 dollars, I’m so there. I’m the mostly bald dude, with the Superman t-shirt and kacky’s.
Ok, I have to know…Is it perfectly alright to call such a physically demanding sport, footy? I don’t think here in the states we could call the NFL, footy. It wouldn’t sell near enough beer!
People with a media pass also get in for free š
Hey rodney,
i saw you come to the game but i was in a conversation with my cousin so sorry i did not say hello. I watch my cousin play reserves for west perth. and caught up with the family.
