A few posts back I mentioned chatting to Ian Simpson from the Sensitive New Age Cowpersons during my morning radio programme on 98.5 Sonshine FM. They launched their new CD, Other People’s Greatest Hits on Friday night at the Fly by Night Club in Fremantle.
We headed down for a night out and managed to find ourselves in the front row, less than a metre from the stage. It was a fantastic show with all sorts of music …. played bluegrass style.
Abba, Rolling Stones, Sherbet, Beach Boys, U2, they all came in for the bluegrass treatment. You haven’t really heard AC/DC until you’ve heard Long Way to the Top played with a banjo and electric mandolin. There was even a wonderful medley of songs from the Sound of Music. The guys also played a number of their own songs. How Ian managed to play banjo like that all night without his fingers bleeding I’ll never know. The musicianship from all four members of the band is just amazing. They certainly earn their money.
The emphasis of the night was on humour and they certainly know how to keep a crowd laughing. It was a great evening and a very good start to the weekend.
Sadly, they’re only together until the end of the year so if you hear of them playing anywhere near you, make sure you get to see them before you miss out.

Why just until the end of the year? So many reasons to ponder.
Guess we’ll miss out eh? Glad you had such a wonderful night.
