Diamonds no longer a girl's best friend

I was reading this morning that diamonds are no longer a girl’s best friend. According to a new US study looking at women’s attitudes to technology, more than three out of four women would prefer a new plasma TV to a diamond necklace.

And it doesn’t stop there. The study found 86 per cent of women would prefer a new digital video camera to a pair of designer shoes.

In most areas it seems that women are just as interested in the latest electronic gizmos as men.

I suppose that this is good news for guys because we’d probably be better at choosing a digital video camera or plasma TV than a pair of shoes if we’re looking for a gift.

Mind you, the diamond thing’s a bit of a worry. It’s going to be a bit hard for guys who want to propose. It may be a little tricky finding a jeweller who’s prepared to make an engagement ring that’s set with an 81 cm plasma TV.
