What are you like at meeting people? I must admit that I’m somewhat ‘socially deficient’ and don’t always find it easy to start a conversation with people I’ve never met but it can be a little easier when there’s already some background between people. It also helps when those you’re meeting are great people.
As I mentioned several posts back, one of the absolute highlights of my recent holiday was catching up with a couple of fellow bloggers. While we’d never met face to face before we’ve been in touch on-line for some time.
It was a Thursday afternoon on the first week of our holiday. We were in Melbourne and we headed to the Southgate Foodcourt. We weren’t sure who could make it but figured that even if no one showed up we’d be able to grab a coffee and relax for a while. We’d had a very busy morning and were looking forward to sitting down and taking a break.
One of the bloggers I was really hoping to meet was Thomas of Williams World and so I was more than pleased when when Thomas and Olivia walked in with their children T.J., Maya and Heath. Thomas may be heading to perth for a couple of days later this year. His time will be extremely tight but I’m hoping we’ll fit in time for grabbing another coffee.
Another on-line friend, Kitty of Peregrine Sojo, arrived a little while later with her mum. I’ve been reading Kitty’s blog for some time now and we’ve occasionally chatted via MSN. It was so good to meet up in person. Kitty even invited us to her home to join some other friends for pancakes but unfortunately our schedule meant that we couldn’t make it.
There’s a list of other bloggers that I wanted to catch up with in both Melbourne and Sydney but I just couldn’t arrange our schedule well enough to make that happen. With only a week in each city there were lots of things that were planned for us as a family. Maybe next time.
The picture of Kitty, Thomas and me is a little out of focus but unfortunately we only got one pic of the three of us on our camera. (You can click the photo for a better look.)

YAY for internet friends … :o)
G’day Rodney, it was great to meet up with you and your family too. I haven’t even looked at my photos yet (3 weeks later) as I’ve been having computer problems, embarrassing as that is for me as a geek to even mention 🙂
Cheers, Thomas
That’s awesome! It was wonderful to meet Keasty and Fay when they came to visit, after getting to know them through their blog first.
Hey Rodney, it was fantastic to meet with you and your family, although it was only for a little while. I have just uploaded the photos and will post one up now.
