Question time

As of today we’re on holiday for two weeks. In a few hours we fly out to Melbourne. I might get to post in the next couple of days but it’s unlikely so I thought I’d leave you something to ponder for a little while.

Our customer service department is constantly trying to improve your blogging experience here at The Journey and so I’d be more than pleased if you’d take the time to answer some or all of the following questions for me.

How did you find my blog?

Are you a first time reader or a regular reader?

What do you like about my blog?

What country are you located in?

What else would you like to see on my blog?

What things would you like to see more of?

What would you rather see less of?

Is there anything you want to see, but haven’t?

Do you enjoy my approach?

Do you enjoy my writing?

Do you think I’m spending too much time on one thing, too little on others.

Do I post too often, too little?

One more question. Although I really want the truth, good and bad, can you please try to be kind? πŸ™‚

  • How did you find my blog? I remember you talking about it on Tech Zone, then I finally got to it from a link from Gareth William’s blog.

Are you a first time reader or a regular reader? A regular reader.

What do you like about my blog? The design & layout, all the cool features on the sidebar, your posts are mostly interesting & enjoyable to read.

What else would you like to see on my blog? Surprise us.

Generally a very good blog Rodney. Something I’m trying to accomplish with my own blog.

  • #1 – from two sitting ducks whom I found by looking for pics from Perth on google (and where I found out about blogging!)
    #2 – regular
#3 – itΒ΄s multifaceted and with stuff IΒ΄m interested in
    #4 – Germany
#5 – tough question; surprise me
#6 – things that happen in Perth
#7 – things IΒ΄m not so interested in (like AFL ;.)…) I just fly over – and I bet they are interesting for others, so… nothing
    #8 – nope, just a referrer to #6
    #9 – definitively!
#10 – yes, very enjoyable and fluent
    #11 – good mixture
    #12 – rather too little πŸ˜‰
I hope this approach to answer your questions wasnΒ΄t too typical in german correctness πŸ˜‰
    Have a nice holiday!

What else would you like to see on my blog? – nothing really
What things would you like to see more of? – nothing really
What would you rather see less of? – nothing really
Is there anything you want to see, but haven’t? – no

BTW – since you instituted co-comments the comment section doesn’t show up in my reader (SharpReader), but does when visiting the blog directly. Which is strange as SharpReader uses the IE engine. Oh well….

  • I stumbled upon your blog one day and since then, have been reading.I enjoy reading all the stuff you write and often wonder how you find material to write. So carry on writing. Your writing style helps me to respond to what you touch upon, although I don’t publish my response most times.

  • I’ve been reading you for so long now that I can’t remember how I found you! I think your blog is just great as-is! PLEASE have a great holiday. Enjoy yourself and RELAX! (Melbourne is such a fun city…)

  • # a link from someone’s blog, but can’t remember whose blog πŸ™‚

    # You don’t have anything that is excessive!

    # Could not think of any

    # Good, I can never blog like you!

  • How did you find my blog?–Well, I know this is pathetic, ut I honestly don’t remember! I know I came across it very early on in my blogging experience. I think I must have followed a link on another blog.

Are you a first time reader or a regular reader?–Regular. Sometimes I go several days without checking it, (just because of time constraints, etc) but I always come back!

What do you like about my blog?–Well, I love that you’re a fellow radio person, and that you’re Australian–I find Australia very appealing! But I also enjoy the warm, pleasant tone, and the variety of topics you touch on.

What country are you located in?–The good old U-S-of-A! πŸ™‚

What else would you like to see on my blog?

What things would you like to see more of?

What would you rather see less of?

Is there anything you want to see, but haven’t?–To the above four questions–I’m really fine with the content that you have now. I don’t see that any changes are needed. I do like the occasional audio–you were the one who turned me on to that idea on my own blog, and I use it fairly regularly. You’re a radio guy, you’re very good at what you do, and it adds another dimension to the blog–I say go ahead and showcase it! πŸ™‚

Do you enjoy my approach?–Very much.

Do you enjoy my writing?–Very much.

Do you think I?m spending too much time on one thing, too little on others.

Do I post too often, too little?–To both questions, you’re doing fine.

One more question. Although I really want the truth, good and bad, can you please try to be kind? :)–Hopefully I’ve been kind, because I do enjoy your blog and I think you’re doing a great job with it!

So now you’ve given me another idea. Mind if I post a similar survey on my blog? πŸ™‚

  • Hi Rodney,
    Here are some random thoughts…

    – I like the style of your blog as it is. It is very easy to read and always positive.
    – As I listen to you on 98.5 reguarly I can almost hear you speaking as I read (hope that makes sense!)
    – I subscribe via the RSS feed in Firefox so I usually check it most days and to see if there is new content.
    – I like the balance of your posts ie your life, family, faith and what’s going on at Sonshine.

    Overall it is really good.

    Blessya,
    Dave

  • rodney,
I know this may sound rude, and maybe it is, but I must say that I find the questionare awfully self-ingratiating. Aside from Philbert’s response, which is childish and farcical, at best, all of the comments are plesant, and I’m sure, exactly what you wanted to hear.
You bloggers are so terribly incestuous that you would never allow yourselves to be scrutinized by those outside your immediate reading ring. I know what your thinking, but who would just stop by out of the blue? Do yourself a favor and ask some of the contributors from staypufff.blogspot.com to read and critique your site, then you may get some constructive feedback. Beware though–the light of truth can be blinding.

  • Thanks everyone for your comments. I’ll have a closer look at what everyone has said next week when I get home.

El Ray Rancho, thanks for your comments. I wasn’t only wanting to hear only pleasant comments but yes, I’m pleased that most of the comments are. It’s nice to know that what you’re doing is appreciated.

As for asking readers of another blog to critique what I’m doing, I must say that I don’t see what that would achieve. I was wanting the opinions of those who read the blog regularly. I write for myself and the small community of readers that come here. If you feel that that’s incestuous then this might not be the blog for you. I’d be more than happy to have you as aq regular reader and for you to make any comments you would like but it if the overall style of what I do isn’t to your taste, there are millions of other blogs that may suit you better.

I’m not out to change the world or write a critically acclaimed literary masterpiece, I simply want to throw out a few thoughts and have some people join me on the journey. I’m happy for people to agree or disagree with what I write and for my comments to reflect that.

Asking readers of other blogs to critique what I’m doing would be like asking heavy metal fans to review a new jazz album or vice versa. They’re not going to listen to the music anyway so why seek their opinion?

Of course the questions I wrote are out there for all to comment on so if anyone passes through and wants to add their two cents worth, they’re more than welcome.
