City of Perth Great Bike Ride

Early this Sunday morning I’ll be on my bike heading for the city.

The City of Perth Great Bike Ride will see thousands of cyclists riding for three charities. The Heart Foundation, St John of God Foundation Horizon House Project and Hope for Children will benefit from around 5000 riders choosing one of three courses, 106 km, 53 km or 12 km. I’ve chosen the 53 km so by the time I ride there, take part in the event, then cycle home, I’ll have covered over 70 km.

This morning during my radio programme on 98.5 Sonshine FM I spoke to the Chairman of the organising committee, Garry Lawrence. You can listen to our chat while you continue to browse by clicking here.

I should have registered for the event some time ago but only got around to it today. After registering I got an email asking for volunteers to help on the day. If you’re in the Perth are this might be of interest for you.

We urgently need your assistance. We are urging all riders to bring a family member or friend to assist as Road Marshals along the route of the course for the City of Perth Great Bike Ride.

Volunteers are crucial to the success of this event and they will add value to the post race celebrations!

In appreciation for their time your friends / family will receive: A gift bag to the value of $80, official volunteer shirt, and a sausage sizzle and post race entertainment at the conclusion of the ride at Langley Park.

Volunteers will also go in the draw for a chance to win a 2GB Silver iPod nano sponsored by Winthrop or a Sunbeam Juicer sponsored by Sunbeam,

Email sophie.hamdorf@ssjg.org.au for further details or call 9382 4292.

Join in this fantastic day for three of Perth’s most worthwhile charities.

Many thanks for your attention and hopefully your assistance on this day.

Sophie Hamdorf
Volunteer Coordinator

Let me know if you’re going to be at the event as a rider or a volunteer and we can catch up for a coffee on Langley Park after the ride.
