It’s officially two bidon weather. In case you’re wondering, bidon is the name used by most cyclists for the water bottles attached to our bikes. It’s a French thing.
With holidays and one thing or another it had been about a month since I had the chance to get out for my regular Saturday morning ride and so I was more than happy to get out with friends last Saturday. I’m still not sure whether the best part of the ride is the 50 km we cycle or getting to the coffee shop at the end of the ride.
One of the things I noticed is that the weather’s getting warmer. Even with our starting time moved to 6:30 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m. to avoid the heat, the sun was still out and making things a little sticky. Obviously the weather will get a lot warmer as we move closer to summer and the forecast for this Saturday is for the mercury to head upwards.
Unfortunately last weekend my water supply ran out well before we finished our ride. This week I’ll be armed and ready with two bidons. That should satisfy my thirst until we get to the coffee shop to end our ride.
The seasons are changing and so it’s either getting warmer or cooler depending on where you are in the world. I’d love to hear your perspective on the changing weather. What changes do you have to make to your routine? Are you heading into your favourite or least favourite season?

Summer is WELL AND TRULY my favourite season. I think living in Albany for 10 years made me hate the rain SO MUCH that i’d prefer to be in stinking hot weather than in drizzle, so I love summer!
Oh how I am filled with jealousy as I read your post. You are ushering summer in and we are ushering it out.
The infamous Pacific Northwest rains are now settling in. Summer is over! The fall colors are beautiful, but soon they will all be gone. Hopefully we will get a little snow this winter. That always makes things fun!
Enjoy summer!
