I’ve been promising myself for months that I’d get along to a Perth Weblogger Meetup. I finally made it last night.
There was around a dozen bloggers who met at the Brass Monkey Pub in Northbridge. I’m hopeless at turning up at places alone when I don’t know anyone but it was relatively painless. Great people and a great evening.
The next Meetup is on at the same place, same time on Wednesday evening the 16th of May.
Strangely enough it turned out to be more of a Twitter Meetup than a Blogger Meetup. While I’d seen evidence of something called Twitter existing through other blogs, I hadn’t really paid it much attention. Keeping a running tally of everything you’re doing throughout the day didn’t really grab me as a wonderful idea.
Peer pressure is an interesting thing. As soon as I got home from the Meetup last night I created my own Twitter account and I’ve spent today leaving a trail of activities online for my new Twitter friends to read. I’ll give it a few days and see if I get addicted.

I checked out your Twitter, uh, blog?…thing?…whatever! I’m not quite sure of its purpose. Some of the comments of your “friends” were hilarious, however!
I’m not sure I would want to stop by my computer that often throughout the day. ๐
oh no…I’m afraid to try it. I am already “addicted” to blogging and “Stumbling”.
Have you used Stumble Upon yet? be careful if you do….
Didn’t know about the meeting, I pencilled the 16th in but being a week’s day might make it hard, but hopefully I’ll be there, what time?
I have know idea what a twitter is and can’t seem to get the link open today, grrrrr technology some days.
Any way, I loved the topic yesterday about the dogs! It was informative and funny ๐
Hannelie, it’d be great if you could join us for the Meetup.
You can go to the Meetup page (http://blog.meetup.com/14/) and sign up. Then you’ll get the information emailed to you each month.
The next one’s at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 16th at the Brass Monkey, William Street, Northbridge.
