A tiring weeked

How has your Australia Day long weekend been going so far? It’s been a very busy one for me. I’ve been helping with the commentary at the Perth Criterums cycle racing.

The events started in Joondalup on Friday night followed by an afternoon race in the city on Saturday. Yesterday the racing was in Victoria Park.

There has been some excellent racing and it’s been good to see a fairly solid crowd cheering the riders on as they put everything into their efforts to cross he line first in the Perth summer heat.

There’s been juniors, ladies and mens races and the standard has been very impressive.

If you’re in the Perth area and you want to see the calibre of the racing you should head to Leederville this afternoon. The café strip is sure to be very busy with the final races for the series being played out on a very technical course. Racing gets underway just before three with the main race starting at five.

Good to see some excellent sport taking to the streets. Best part is, it’s completely free to watch.

Being a cyclist myself I reckon I could keep up with the guys that are racing ….. for about half a lap.
