Come fly with me

I’m getting ready for some very long flights over the next day or so.

As I mentioned before I’m heading to Haiti with Compassion Australia to see their work amongst people living in desperate poverty.

I love flying but sometimes being in the air for fourteen or so hours at a time can be a little tiring. It all begins tomorrow morning with a flight to Sydney, then on Sunday it’s a fourteen hour flight followed by a five hour flight.

Of course I’ll make the correct preparations tonight. I’ll choose a couple of good books and make sure that my iPod’s fully charged.

Do you enjoy flying? What do you do to keep yourself entertained on a plane? Are you able to sleep well on planes?

I’m hoping that I’ll have internet access at some of the places I visit so that I can keep you up to date with my travels.

  • enjoy – one day i’d like to head to haiti to see my sponsor child myself!

love flying, can never sleep – and i use my ipod to cruise away the hours. a laptop with a good game of Command and Conquer helps too!

  • I love flying, and feel it goes quite quick (my flights have always been to europe, so usually a ~5 hour + ~13 flights).

I usually sleep for a few hours, and in between watch movies and read.
I recommend one of those round neck pillow things for sleeping.

Bon voyage! Am sure you’ll have some interesting stories when you’re back, well, or during if you find internet!
    🙂

  • Prayers for your trip, Rodney.

I love flying because I can read on the plane but not in a bus or car. The most I’ve ever flown in one trip is 4 hours so I can imagine 14 would be a bit of a challenge.

  • Deano, I’ll certainly have my iPod fully charged and ready for each flight. I used to use the inflight entertainment a lot more but having my own music to listen to is so wonderful.

  • I’ll have to look out for one of those pillows at the airport this morning. Thanks for the tip, Simone.

I didn’t get to bed until quite late last night and I’m up early this morning so I’ll probably do a fair bit of sleeping on the plane. 🙂

  • Thanks for your prayers, Sarah. Very much appreciated.

I don’t stop long enough to read most of the time so I’m looking forward to catching up on a couple of books while in the air.

  • Don’t forget… “sit back, relax and enjoy your flight…”

I think a great deal of money could be raised for Compassion if you got $1 for every time you heard that in the next 10 days! 🙂

  • Thanks Peter. I just wish my body knew what time it is. We’re 12 hours behind Perth at the moment and we change another hour when we fly to Haiti this afternoon.
