Summer or Winter?

I got an email today letting me know about some great summer savings from a large international computer and electronics company. (I don’t want to name them … but think fruit.) I thought it was pretty interesting considering we’re in the first week of winter.

I know that summer is on the way for those in the northern hemisphere but surely when you have customers all over the world you should keep in mind that the US isn’t the only place in the world. The majority of their customers probably do live in America but you’d have to think that they have a sizable customer base below the equator.

The fact that I had to tell them where I live when I signed up for their emails should have given them the information they needed to get the seasons right.

I know it’s only a small thing and there are so many more important things to be concerned over but it just felt like they were saying that unless you live where they live, you’re not all that important to them. Probably not a good message for an international company to be spreading.

Do you think some of your friends would enjoy reading Summer or Winter?? Please use the buttons below to share the post. Thanks.

  • Rodney, lol.

I would say most Americans don’t know about the switch of seasons between the hemispheres.

It’s not that they are dumb or anything like that, but it’s just not common knowledge.

But I agree, if American businesses want to go international, they do need to know about the geography of their customers.

I hope you are enjoying the start of your winter, btw. I am just starting to enjoy the hot temperatures of the summer. NOT!

Where in tarnation did Spring go? It comes and goes too quickly!
