Half a Christmas

We’re half way through December and we’ve already had half a Christmas.

My side of the family won’t be able to get together on Christmas Day so we had our own Christmas lunch yesterday. We talked, we ate, we exchanged gifts. It was a great afternoon.

Splitting Christmas also means that we won’t have to dash between families on Christmas Day so we’ll be able to really enjoy the day without looking at watches wondering if it’s time to head to the next meal. And of course we won’t have to have two enormous meals on the one day.

What are your plans for the big day? A quiet one or rushing from place to place? How do you decide where you spend time on Christmas Day?

My Christmas wish is simply to be able to spend time with those I love and to be able to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. Looks like wishes will come true this year.

  • Because my girlfriend and I are quite young and not married or any kids we spend xmas apart. I head to my family in Toowoomba in QLD and she will spend it with her mum in Noosa. I will then drive back to Noosa on Boxing day. We have been together for almost 3 years now and never spent a christmas day together in our relationship.

I have young brothers and sisters.. 3 under the age of 16 which is why I feel I need to spend it with my family. Once they are older I won’t really care what I do for christmas

  • My dream is to spend christmas with my kids and the hubs in a mountain cabin somewhere one day. We haven’t gotten there yet. This year we are spending it with my hubs side of the family so we’ll be in good ol VEGAS! We trade years so one year with his family one year with mine, back and fourth. I still like my cabin idea the best.

  • A fantastic day with our family, including parents, kids & their spouses & this year our son in law’s parents & siblings!

Lotz of presents, too much food, chat, relax – a brilliant day!

  • We alternate between families each Christmas. Last year we spent Christmas in Albany with my family and then headed to Dunsborough on Boxing Day to see Duncan’s family. This year it’s vice versa and this year will also be the first Christmas I’ve had away from my family which will be a bit sad.

  • The teens have to leave at 1pm so we are having a Christmas bbq brekkie so we don’t need to rush lunch and cook the whole day. Maybe later going to the beach, dunno or a bike ride with little man.

  • because of my job, I can’t go home for christmas anymore. So my christmas day looks like this now: I sing at church, then head home for christmas present opening via video calls to my family. A virtual family christmas. This year I’m also having people over who have no-where to go for christmas. So far we’re up to 7 people, possibly 9 after church tonight. We’ll see!
