Today is the first full day of my 10 day detox diet. I’m following nutritionist / naturopath Philip Bridgeman’s detox programme, along with half a dozen of my colleagues at Sonshine FM and a number of our listeners. The detox is based on his book, Daniel’s Diet, and is a ten day diet designed to give our bodies a break from all the junk we put into them.
There’s a number of testimonies givenon Philip’s website regarding the diet, including this one, “My mother took me to consult with Philip. I was very overweight and couldn’t seem to lose it. I felt bloated and “puffy” as well as having no energy. Due to all this I was lacking in confidence and had a poor self-image. On Daniel’s Diet in 10 days I lost 10 kg. I was feeling so good I continued on following the diet. In 3 months I lost 25 kg and regained all my energy and self-esteem. My Mom is so impressed she is now following the diet.”
I started mid morning yesterday and since then I’ve been cutting out lots of stuff from my diet. What I’ve found is not that I’m craving anything – though that may happen in a day or so – but rather I’m missing habits. You know the kind of thing where you sit down at the end of the day and make a coffee. I’m not craving the coffee, I’m missing the routine of sharing a cuppa with Pauline. Maybe I should just drink my water from my coffee mug when Pauline’s having a coffee.
It’s all a bit like being a kid at Christmas time. I know that something wonderful awaits at the end of the 10 days, it’s just the anticipation in the mean time that I have to deal with.
