Winding Down the Weekend

Today I thought I’d share a handful of photos from around Fremantle, Western Australia, taken as the sun was going down last night. I’m not a great photographer but I do like trying to capture a reasonable image.

National Camera Day

I’ve just found out that it’s National Camera Day. It’s not a day that’s celebrated in Australia but I reckon any day is a good day to ‘focus’ on taking photos.

Even without knowing that the 29th of June is a day to celebrate cameras, I did manage to grab a snap or two while I was out and about this afternoon.

Here’s a photo I took of a magnificent old tree in Kings Park, overlooking Perth, Western Australia.

Scenes from Distant Lands

As I’ve mentioned several times, late last year I traveled to Bangladesh and India to see the work of SIMaid’sGirls off the Streets project.

As well as seeing the great work being done in those countries I managed to take in a few sights and snapped hundreds of photos. Below are some of the pictures from the trip. Just click on any of the photos and you’ll be able to browse through the gallery.

If you haven’t already, let me encourage you to check out Girls off the Streets and find out how you can be part of this project which is bringing hope to those who had lost hope.

Ken Duncan Photography Workshop

If you’ve ever wished you could take more professional looking photos, here’s your opportunity to learn from the very best.

I had the privilege of interviewing Ken Duncan on radio some years ago and found him to be an incredibly friendly and engaging person. On top of that, he really knows what he’s doing behind a camera.

On Australia Day 2009 Ken was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) by the Australian Government for his services to the arts as a landscape photographer and publisher, and for his service to the Central Coast community.

If you’re anywhere near Perth you can learn some of the skills he utilises in his photography. It’ll cost you just $40 for a two hour workshop. Just click the banner above to register for the workshop on Saturday morning the 15th of May at Christian City Church Hepburn Heights.
