Mary Forsythe’s Glimpse of Grace

black police cuffs

Mary Forsythe was a successful pharmacist who thought she had everything until she was jailed for tax fraud. The last thing she expected was to discover a more fulfilling life while in prison.

Mary Forsythe grew up in rural Kentucky where family was celebrated and life was simple. But despite her “good life,” Mary felt she was some how “different.”

“I always felt like I was odd in a bad sense. I felt like something was wrong with me,” she says. “Something was defective. Even though I went through the motions, inside I was in really pain and torment even from a young child.”

Mary says she always felt rejected even though she never understood why. So to compensate she became an overacheiver — a performer. For most of her adolescence it worked until…

“Something I never told anyone for many, many years… I was raped my second year in college.

“The rejection and the shame just began to grow in my life ‘till that’s all I knew. It affected my personality. It affected my choices. It affected my perception of almost every area of my life.”

Earlier this week I recorded a radio interview with Mary about her amazing story. You can hear our conversation by clicking the play button on the audio player at the bottom of this post.

If you want to find out more about Mary you can visit her website, Kingdom Living Ministries, or grab a copy of Her book, A Glimpse of Grace.

A Glimpse of Grace is the gripping tale of Mary Forsythe’s spiral to life’s rock bottom and the amazing account of her journey to triumph. It is a story of dreams and disappointments, of heartache and hope, of tragedy and tenderness, of loss and love.

Walk with her through an innocent childhood in small-town America to a glamorous life in the capital of ritz, through successful business and investment endeavors to a grueling government investigation and a federal indictment that landed her in prison.

Join her as she learned to live in the last place she thought she would ever be, as her life was completely re-directed. Discover with her the strength to survive and the grace to overcome. Find, as she did, secrets of victory and treasures in darkness. – cbn.com

They're locking me up

convict.jpgThe day has arrived. I’m about to lose my freedom.

This morning I’ll be broadcasting my 98.5 Sonshine FM radio programme from Karrinyup Shopping Centre where I’ll be a convict for a cause. I’ll be asking people to donate towards Cystic Fibrosis WA so that I can be released. I need your help to pull off my very own prison break.

I’ll be joined by fellow announcer Tim Long. Together we’ll broadcast at the shopping centre from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. If you’re local I hope you’ll drop in and say hello. I’m told that I will be allowed visitors and you won’t need to be searched. (Bring a cake with a file in it.)

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the most common life threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children and is the second most common life-shortening, childhood onset inherited disorder in the United States. For such a serious condition it really doesn’t get a lot of attention.

What can you do to support families who are battling CF?

Firstly, you can help us by donating. Simply click here, choose how much you’d like to give, then fill in your relevant details.

Donations can be accepted on Visa or MasterCard. Please keep in mind that the amounts are in Australian Dollars and of course the tax deductibility is only available in Australia. If you’re not in Australia and you’d like to work out the exchange rate you can work it out through this currency converter.

The other way you can help is to get the word out. If you publish a blog please link to this post. Can I ask you to email people that you know to highlight what I’ll be doing? Please help me get the word out to as many people as possible. If you use social bookmarking such as StumbleUpon or Digg you can use the buttons at the bottom of this post to share this post with a wider audience. Tell your Facebook friends, Twitter a link to this post, please do whatever you can to highlight what we’re doing. It’s not too late to highlight this very important issue amongst your friends.

Thank you for your help with this. Together we can make a very big difference for families who can really do with our support and encouragement.

Cystic Fibrosis Western Australia

CF_Logo.gifAs I mentioned a few days ago, this Friday, 98.5 Sonshine FM’s Tim Long and I will become ‘Convicts for a Cause’. The power to set us free is in your hands. Will you help us to be released?

Cystic Fibrosis is the most common life threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children. It affects a number of organs in the body and it can be absolutely debilitating. Fortunately with the help of Cystic Fibrosis WA, life can be a lot more manageable.

Tim and I will be locked up this Friday from 9am until 3pm in King’s Square near the Fremantle Town Hall. I hope you’ll be able to drop in and visit us.

By donating to Cystic Fibrosis WA, you can set us free. Just click here and you’ll be taken to a donations page where you can do your bit to help those who are suffering.

A couple of days back on the Morning Programme I spoke to Cystic Fibrosis WA CEO Nigel Barker about Cystic Fibrosis and the Convicts for a Cause event. You can hear what Nigel had to say by clicking play on the Audio Player at the bottom of this post.

I do hope you’ll join Tim and I as we broadcast live from Fremantle this Friday on 98.5 Sonshine FM.
