Have you ever heard the joke about the guy applying for a job as a handyman? He has no handyman skills but reckons he should still get the position. He thinks that he’s ‘handy’ because he lives just around the corner. I know how he feels.
On Saturday I reminded myself why I don’t paint all that often. I had just a couple of sections under our eaves to paint and they look OK now but I’ve seen other people paint with absolute ease and without ending up the same colour as the surface they’re trying to cover. It looks like such a simple task when other people do it.
I reckon there’s a handyman gene that I missed out on when I was born. There are some simple tasks that I can carry out reasonably well but others that just leave me scratching my head.
Of course you may be one of those people who can do all those little jobs around the house and nothing’s too much trouble. Let me just say I don’t hate you, I don’t envy you … but I do have a list of things around my place that you’re welcome to tackle.
