Aussie Aussie Aussie

It’s a long way from becoming a reality but it’s a lot closer than it’s ever been.

Roamfree.com is an Australian tourism company which has just committed twenty million dollars to the formation of an Australian Tour de France team. While many Australians have done very well in the event for many years, including Cadel Evans with his second place this year, we’ve never had an Australian team.

The plan is to attract prominent Australian cyclists like Cadel Evans, Robbie McEwan, Michael Rogers Stuart O’Grady, Baden Cook and Simon Gerrans.

Cycling Australia, the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Institute of Sport are all behind the idea. Extensive talks have also been held with federal Minister of Sport, George Brandis, Fran Bailey, the Minister for Tourism, and key members of Tony Abbott’s health ministry staff.

You can read more of the details in this story at The Australian or check out the Media Clippings at the Roamfree.com Press Centre.

I don’t think they’ll be calling me anytime soon to go riding with them but it’d be great to see an Aussie team taking on the world’s greatest annual sporting event.

Just be careful while you watch the videos on offer. You’re very likely to start packing your bags right away so that you can come and visit the most wonderful part of the planet. Have a look at the video in this post for starters and then spend some time browsing throught the website.

Free Morning Tea

My apologies to those who don’t live close enough to Perth to take advantage of this but my morning radio programme on 98.5 Sonshine FM will be even tastier during our annual Radiothon which is less than two weeks away.

Thanks to Miss Maud and Five Senses, we’re inviting 20 listeners each day to join me and my morning programme guests for morning tea each day from the 27th to the 31st of August.

The morning teas will run from 10:00 a.m. to around 11:30 a.m. and should be a lot of fun. It’d be great to catch up and it’s a wonderful opportunity for me to show off my workplace.

We did a similar thing last year and had such a wonderful time. The food from Miss Maud was outstanding and the Five Senses coffee was spectacular. On top of that is was a lot of fun meeting a variety of listeners and letting people see how radio works.

If you’d like to be part of the fun simply click here to email me at my work email address and tell me which day you can join me. If you’re one of the first 20 replies for each day you’ll enjoy a delicious, free morning tea at our Morley studios thanks to Miss Maud, Five Senses Coffee and 98.5 Sonshine FM.
