Children Exposed to Graphic Horror Movie

I don’t know if you saw in the news that some children in the UK were left traumatised when supernatural horror film Paranormal Activity 4 was accidentally screened instead of the animated family film Madagascar 3 at their local cinema.

Youngsters reacted in horror as a ‘flashback’ scene from the original Paranormal Activity showed a bloodied corpse being hurled at the camera.

Around 25 families at the Cineworld cinema in Nottingham scrambled for the exits with their crying children – some as young as five – when the film started.

Natasha Lewis, 32, had taken her eight-year-old son Dylan to see the film.

The full-time mother, from Bulwell, Nottinghamshire, said: ‘Dylan wanted to see the new Madagascar film as he’s seen the others and they’re his favourite. He was really looking forward to it.

‘We sat down and it was meant to start at 10am, but it took until 10.30am for the lights to go down and for the trailers to start.

‘They started playing the movie and I thought – this doesn’t look right. And then I recognised the opening sequence as a flashback to the first movie, which I saw a couple of years ago.

‘It opens on the most terrifying scene in the first film – where a body shoots full pelt towards the camera. – Daily Mail

We had a similar situation some time back. We went to see a family movie and then the screen burst into life with 40 Year Old Virgin. We’d already thought that some of the movie trailers were inappropriate for kids and we’d discussed complaining about what they’d been promoting in a family movie session.

As soon as the wrong movie started I headed out with a few other parents to alert staff. The parents who remained in the cinema covered young eyes.

The cinema staff quickly turned the movie off and started screening the one we were there to see. Our incident didn’t make world headlines but it was still a very unfortunate incident.

Have you ever been in a similar situation? Was it the cinema’s fault or had you walked in to the wrong cinema?

Titan the Robot at the Perth Royal Show

One of the great attractions at this year’s Perth Royal Show is Titan the Robot.

Titan is a massive robot which puts on several shows each day, entertaining children and adults alike. I’ve had a chance to see Titan’s performance a few times over the past few days.

Titan’s live performances can draw crowds of thousands but not content with this Titan likes to pop up on television as often as he can. Titan loves to be in the limelight and has travelled to every corner of the British Isles and to many European countries including Ireland, Spain, France, Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Germany.

Titan has also covered much of the globe, appearing before disbelieving audiences in China, Vietnam, USA, Thailand, Dubai, Oman, Doha, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong.

Titan has a habit of making the headlines when visiting counties abroad and has been on the front cover of the Gulf News, the Saigon Times, the Irish Times and the Beijing Daily one of the biggest selling newspapers in China. Titan has been in just about every publication you can think of in the UK from the Daily Mail to Truckers Magazine!

You can watch just a small part of Titan’s show in the video below.

Perth Royal Show 2012

Let the show begin.

The Perth Royal Show begins at the Claremont Showgrounds today and runs until next Saturday the 6th of October.

The Perth Royal Show is Perth’s biggest community event attracting around half a million visitors from the city and the country every year. It has a history spanning over 170 years and serves to showcase WA agriculture, small business and entertainment.

Thanks to the State Government’s support of Australian Year of the Farmer, all children aged 12 years and under will enjoy free entry to the 2012 IGA Perth Royal Show when accompanied by an adult.

A new addition to the show this year is the Perth Royal Show App which will help you find your way around the show and plan for a great day out.

98five Sonshine FM is broadcasting live from the show during the week days so I’ll be down there for a big chunk of the show.

I’m really looking forward to presenting my Morning Café radio programme, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday to Friday next week.

I’ll have a range of interesting guests and will probably get involved in some interesting situations.

If you’re thinking of heading to the show this year, make sure you drop in to our broadcast centre and say hello. We’re be overlooking the main arena right next to the Members’ Grandstand.

Broadcasting from the show instead of our Como studios will almost double the distance I’ll have to cycle which will be great training for our cancer ride coming up in a few weeks.

Will the real Bond please stand up?

This is a great piece of editing. Six actors playing James Bond brought together in one car chase.
