Remembering Radiothon

I’ve already posted a few photos from the first day of the 98.5 Sonshine FM Radiothon last week. I thought I’d show you a few more of my guests throughout the week.

We finished the Radiothon on Friday evening with a total of just over $175 000. Even though Radiothon is officially over for 2011, we believe the total will rise a little in the coming days.

While we didn’t reach our target of $215 000, our supporters gave everything they could to achieve over 80% of our goal. We were humbled by the continued generosity of our supporters towards securing our financial future.

If you’d still like to give you can give online, or call the 98.5 Sonshine FM office during the week on 9313 0800.

In the mean time, check out a selection of photos and click on any photos you’d like to see a little bigger.

Radiothon 2011

SFM_Logo.jpgI’m not sure how much posting I’ll be doing over the next week as I’ll be pretty busy with this year’s 98.5 Sonshine FM Radiothon.

Radiothon will be 5 days focussed on providing the funds needed to secure the financial future of 98.5 Sonshine FM.

As well as our ongoing support we rely on funds raised mostly from two major events each year, our June Appeal, and Radiothon. Our supporters really blew us away with the response to the June Appeal this year but now we need to secure our financial future with Radiothon 2011.

We’ve set our target for this year at $215 000. We’re excited about what surprises this year’s Radiothon will bring.

Visit the Sonshine FM website for more details.

Radiothon started at 7:00 a.m. today and will conclude at 6:00 p.m. this Friday.

Free Morning Tea

coffee.jpgThey say there’s no such thing as a free lunch but there is a free morning tea.

My apologies to those who don’t live close enough to Perth to take advantage of this but my Morning Café radio program on 98.5 Sonshine FM will be even tastier during our annual Radiothon next week.

I’m inviting a group of people each day to join me and my morning programme guests for morning tea from Monday the 14th to Friday the 18th of November.

The morning teas will run from 10:00 a.m. to around 11:30 a.m. and should be a lot of fun. It’d be great to catch up and it’s a wonderful opportunity for me to show off my workplace in Como.

We’ve done a similar thing over the last couple of years and had such a wonderful time. The food from Miss Maud is always outstanding and the coffee is spectacular. On top of that it’s a lot of fun meeting a variety of listeners and letting people see how radio works.

If you’d like to be part of the fun simply click here to email me at my work email address and tell me which day you can join me. If you’re one of the first 20 replies for each day you’ll enjoy a delicious, free morning tea at the Como studios of 98.5 Sonshine FM.

Why not get a group together and email me the details. I’d love to say hello.

Vinyl and CD Sale

What’s round, black and about the size of a pizza?

A vinyl album … and after over 23 years on air 98.5 Sonshine FM has thousands to clear, from Beethoven to Bowie, Keith Green to Amy Grant. There will be many old favourites as well as rare albums, some of which have never been played.

We’re selling stacks of Christian and mainstream albums and CDs at the Thornlie Christian College Open Day this Saturday. I’m looking forward to being there broadcasting live.

If you’re in the Perth area, you can grab some music history at Thornlie Christian College Open Day, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. this Saturday. You’ll find the college at 19 Furley Road in Southern River.

While you’re there you can check out the college, enjoy some entertainment and grab something to eat or drink.
