RADIOTHON

Radiothon is about to get underway. It starts with a live breakfast launch at the Oyster Bar, South Perth tomorrow morning. (Friday 10th)

It’s a 3 day annual fund raising drive on-air at Sonshine FM.

5 years back when I used to work at Sonshine FM, I was the Radiothon Coordinator. It’s a big job to pull something of this size together.

There will be 3 days of fun and interviews with many local media, sporting and political personalities joining us.

Instead of broadcasting from our normal studio, we turn our board/meeting room into a studio and phone centre. If you click on the link to the website you can follow the links to the camera and watch us doing our stuff.

Click here if you want to go straight to the camera.

Absolute Trust

I mentioned yesterday that I had a terrible sore throat.

I’m pleased to say that it has calmed down considerably but that I’m still feeling a little drained.

The interesting thing is that my on-air guest during my morning programme on Sonshine FM was Philip Bridgeman from Wisdom for Health.

Off-air, Philip asked me a number of questions about my throat problems and concluded that my immune system was a bit low after being busy to finish up at one place of employment and then trying to get my head around my new position. (Which is pretty much what I had thought all along.)

He gave me a small brown bottle with some liquid inside and told me, ‘It shouldn’t taste too bad’. Inside the bottle is a formula that he mixed up to help boost my immune system so that I can shake off this bug. It tastes pretty awful.

The thing that I only thought about later is that I didn’t question him as to what’s in the mixture, what will it do etc. I simply trusted him. I knew that he wasn’t going to do something that would harm me. It’s not in his nature.

Even though I don’t enjoy the experience of swallowing the mixture – I know who gave it to me and I know that it is for my benefit. I intend to drink every last drop.

You guessed it. There’s a great sermon illustration in there.

I’m at work.

Today is the first day of my ‘new’ job at 98 five Sonshine FM.

In around an hour I’ll be back on-air.

I'm (almost) on my way!

The news is finally out.

From Monday next week (23rd August) I will take over as the host of the morning programme on 98 five Sonshine FM.

I didn’t want to say too much any earlier because the current announcer, Sheridan Voysey, didn’t announce his departure on-air until this morning.

Sheridan has crafted a wonderful radio programme from 9 until midday, Monday to Friday (Perth time) and it’ll be a real pleasure to continue his great work.

If you’re in the Perth area you can listen in to 98.5 on the FM frequency. If not, go to Sonshine FM’s website and click on the main logo to listen via the internet.

I will miss my job as Bike for Bibles Coordinator and if it were humanly possible I’d continue with both jobs. Thankfully I’ll remain involved with Bike for Bibles and the Bible Society as and when I can.

Introducing ….. the blogosphere!!

Today I introduced the idea of blogging to listeners of my final radio programme on Sonshine Fm. Well it wasn’t my final ever, just for this 3 week stint of filling in. I’m actually back there this Tuesday afternoon to do the midday to four afternoon shift.

I made a very brief mention of posts by Clint, Hamo, Jocelyn, Phil and Lionfish. Sorry to my many other cyberfriends who didn’t crack a mention this time around.

I hope that a few listeners may be interested in finding our more about blogging and setting up their own blogs.
