As I cycled to work this morning I noticed a young guy in a rather noisy TF Cortina. He had obviously put a fair bit of work into the car to get it sounding just the way he wanted it as well as making sure that the rest of the car is in very good condition.
I remember when the TF Cortina was released back in 1980, the year I got my license. I had a 1972 TC Cortina, which was a great car, but the TF was my dream car. Strange to think that was almost 27 years ago.
I still reckon the TF’s a good looking car but it’s not my dream car anymore. In fact, I can’t really say that I have a dream car any more. I’m much happier on my bike than drooling over a car.
Mind you, if we’re talking about dream vehicles, a Bianchi in celeste green (like the one in the picture) would suit me just fine.
Isn’t it intersting how the things that seemed so enticing in the past seem to lose their appeal over time? Are there things that you desperately wanted when you were younger and now you’re left scratching your head wondering what you ever saw in them?
How about dream vehicles? Was there a ca that you thought was just the greatest piece of automotive engineering you’d ever encountered? Did you ever own one? Does it still have any appeal for you?
