Flat Stanley

I’ve been feeling a little ‘flat’ for a couple of days. Not a ‘do myself harm’ kind of flat, just a ‘low level hmmm’ kind of flat.

While pondering this ‘flat spot’ I remembered the kids book Flat Stanley. I ran a quick google check and found that the author of Flat Stanley, Jeff Brown, passed away unexpectedly in December last year.

It’s kind of interesting, though, that the Flat Stanley book has created a very interesting project for students around the world. It seems that, as in the book, they post Flat Stanleys around the world and journal his experiences. It’s called the Flat Stanley Project.

Imagine that – I’m feeling yuck and yet I still manage to learn something interesting. maybe I should send a Flat Stanley on a trip.

  • That could be an interesting blog project. Send it to each blogger and they could write what Stanley has been doing. Just a thought…

  • I’m feeling “flat” too, Rodney.
    What’s up with that?

I used to work for a school, and the 4th graders (9 – 10 yrs old) were doing a Flat Stanley Project.

A few years ago, a pair of our local radio DJ’s had some pictures of themselves “blown up” and mounted and tried a similar idea. They wanted folks to “take them” on vacation and send back their photos. They then posted the vacation photos on their webpage. As I recall, their “flat” persons went to several baseball games and even got on the President’s plane (Air Force One.)
