Another Busy Day

Last night was wonderful. We reminisced, we listened to music from years gone by, and watched our kids dance all night.

It was tough getting out of bed this morning. We were all thankful that we were attending a special church service starting at midday rather than the ususal 10:00am service.

Today is the 200th Anniverssary of The Bible Soceity. 200 years ago today a bunch of Christians got together in London Tavern for the first ever Bible Society meeting. I don’t know what some Bible Society supporters would make of the fact that it was started in a ‘pub’.

We were part of a service to commemorate the milestone at St. George’s Cathedral. I presented a short story from the history of Bible translation while 7 year old Emily read a prayer.

Even though it was reasonably laid back for a service in a cathedral, it was still a lot more formal than the kind of ‘church’ we are more used to. Mind you, I do get to preach in a wide range of churches throughout the year so I’m reasonably adaptable.

After the service we had lunch with some fellow Bible Society staff members and the guest speaker, Philip Oliver.

It has been a very busy weekend and I don’t think we’ll be long out of bed.
