I've lost my drive

It’s just not happening for me at the moment.

I try to move forwards – but nothing. Sometimes I feel like I’m getting ahead but then I lose all momentum.

That’s the trouble when you own a car.

Our ’91 EB Falcon isn’t happy right now. On our way to take the kids to youth group last night the car started to feel as if it was in neutral. The engine runs just fine but the automatic transmission isn’t happy.

We had to get the RAC (breakdown service) to come and check things out. The RAC man checked it out and then called for a tow truck.

The car is now sitting in our driveway. The transmission fluid has been in there for a long time and smells burnt. I’m wondering if I can work out how to drain it and then replace it it might help. Probably not.

Now I have to work out who to take the car to and how to get it there.

Once we know what’s wrong we need to look at if it’s now time to keep repairing or to trade for something else. Both options are fairly cost prohibitive for us.

No wonder I enjoy cycling so much more than driving.

  • Oh Rodney, I sure feel for you! Few things can make our day-to-day lives more miserable than car troubles. Just an itty-bitty problem can cost hundreds.
From experience, and plenty of witnesses, I can say that God is in the miracle business when it comes to our automobiles. Pray, pray, and pray some more. It’ll all work out.
