Ray Charles Dead at 73

We’ve lost another great talent.

I woke this morning to read this article at news.com.au.

RAY Charles, the Grammy-winning crooner who blended gospel and blues in such crowd-pleasers as “What’d I Say” and ballads like “Georgia on My Mind”, died today, a spokesman said. He was 73.

Charles died at his Beverly Hills home surrounded by family and friends, said spokesman Jerry Digney.

I saw Ray perform at a concert in Margaret River many years ago. It was a stunning performance.

I had a poke around and I noticed that Ray’s official fansite, www.raycharles.com, hasn’t reported the news as yet but I imagine that’ll be the place for tributes in the coming days.

I guess I’ll have to dig out my Ray Charles CD and remember the man’s great talent.
