I'm Soaked

My ride to work this morning was a soggy affair.

We don’t get nearly enough rain in Perth so I don’t mind it too much. Riding in the rain can be fun. (Though I can name at least a few times when it hasn’t been.)

I wonder about the difference between my commute and all those motorists I see on the way.

They have rushed from their houses to their cars – trying to stay dry in the process. They’ve then made their way through extra slow traffic – being extra careful due to the ‘dangerous’ conditions. Once at their destination they’ve tried to dash to their offices without getting wet again. The rain has been an inconvenience.

On the other hand – I have had an exhilarating adventure and felt like a kid playing in the rain as I doged puddles and flew along on my bike.

Now I need to get out of my wet cycling gear and hang it to dry so that I can get it all wet again on my way home tonight. Yipeeee!

  • Rodney, I also love to ‘play’ in the rain (unless, of course, there’s those big bursts of electricity in the sky). As kids we’d ride our bikes in the rain and laugh at the muddy streaks we’d get up our backs (no fenders, they were’t cool).
Thanks for the memory – glad you enjoyed yourself.
