Apart from the fact that ‘Oliver’s Army are on their way’ is gramatically incorrect, I love the music of Elvis Costello.
Elvis is on his way to Perth on the 5th of December and I only wish I could find a way to get in the gate to see him perform.
I used to go to lots of concerts when I was young and single but I have other priorities for my money these days. (Which is a nice way of saying I can’t afford to go to concerts.)
It was pretty tough some months back knowing that David Bowie was playing a show in Perth and that I couldn’t be there. I saw him on the Serious Moonlight Tour many years ago but I wish I could have seen him again.
For that matter I saw Elvis Costello many years back when he toured with T-Bone Burnett. I hadn’t heard of T-Bone Burnett before that but I’m quite a fan now.
Now the latest news is that Neil Diamond is heading back down under. I was overcome with the emotion of the moment when I saw him walk out on stage about 9 years ago when he came to Perth. It was a stunning concert. He insists that none of his tickets will cost more than $99 on his upcoming tour. I’m glad he’s keeping it affordable for many people but it’s still beyond us.
Oh well. I guess I’ll just have to crank up the stereo and throw on a few CDs.
