A Delightful Evening

I mentioned late last week that I would be the MC for last night’s Musical Delights at Dusk.

It was a truly wonderful evening.

The temperature hovered in the 20s so it was a perfect setting for an outdoor event. Some beautiful old trees rose up from the river behind the stage as a marvellous backdrop. Once the sun had gone down they were lit with a variety of coloured lights.

The music was breathtaking. The Australian Army Band Perth played pretty much the entire concert with several superb vocalists doing their bit. There was a wonderful tribute to the Andrews Sisters by three young ladies who were dressed for the part.

Taryn Fiebig sang a couple of brackets and would have blown the roof off if there’d been one. Mark Underwood used his rich voice to thrill the audience both on his own and in a few duets with Taryn. The last couple of songs brought all the vocalists back to the stage.

The night ended with a spectacular fireworks display. There’s nothing quite like fireworks up close, feeling the BOOM as well as watching the sky light up.

During the interval I was invited, with my family, to enjoy a wonderful dinner overlooking the river. I went with the roast beef washed down with a nice drop of red, Pauline the quiche and a glass of white wine. The kids were pretty pleased with chips and fish fingers with orange juice.

The concert was a fundraiser for Citizens Advocacy Eastern Suburbs who do a great job in standing up for the rights of others.

I hope I have the opportunity to be a part of the event next year.
