Microsoft to fight spyware

In this report from NEWS.com.au we hear that Microsoft is going to help us get rid of spyware … possibly at a price.

MICROSOFT has disclosed plans to offer frustrated users of its Windows software new tools to remove spyware programs within 30 days.

In a shift from past practice, the world’s largest software manufacturer said it may charge consumers for future versions of the new protective technology, which Microsoft acquired by buying a small New York software firm. Terms of the sale of Giant Company Software were not disclosed.

Does it seem a little strange to you that Microsoft creates software which is open to infiltration by spyware and then thinks about charging users to get the problem sorted out?

I’m glad that they’ll offer the tools free at first and that we should have them within the month. I just find it a little strange that they’re thinking of charging people to fix a problem that shouldn’t be there in the first place.
