Man's best friend

This story from News.com.au tells the story of a dog looking for food for her newborn puppies which reportedly rescued an abandoned baby girl from a forest in Kenya.

The dog apparently found the two week old infant in a forest south of the capital Nairobi and carried it across a busy road and through a barbed wire fence, placing it close to the puppies.

The dog then lay next to the baby until it was spotted by a human rescuer, the dog’s owner, Mary Adhiambo.

Ms Adhiambo said she washed the baby – whose umbilical chord was covered with maggots – and rushed it to hospital.

At the hospital, where the 3.3kg child was christened Angel, doctors confirmed the infant had been out in the open for two days.

It seems that the baby was found just in time to save her life.

They say that the humble pooch is man’s best friend. I think it would qualify as this little girl’s best friend too.

I think claims that dogs or specific breeds of dogs are terrible creatures, is no different from saying people of certain cultures are bad people. The poor dog is a victim of its environment just as children are. A loving home means a loving dog, a violent home means…..
