Snail mind power

It seems that the search for a drug to help prevent memory loss is being boosted with the help of snails. Scientists are hoping that snails will help them better understand how the brain learns and remembers information.

This article from The Telegraph says, The humble pond snail is playing a crucial role in the search for ways to improve human memory.

Scientists at the University of Sussex have been awarded a £750,000 grant from the Medical Research Council to investigate developing a “Viagra for the brain” to build up long-term memory and learning.

Apparently pond snails are ideal for the study because they share some important characteristics with humans. Their research could eventually benefit patients with conditions such as Alzheimer’s.

It’s an interesting idea; studying snails to help improve memory for humans. Mind you, I’ve found a great way to improve memory. All you need to do is … well it’s … just wait it’ll come to me … maybe I’ll just get back to you later.
