The big day

I mentioned a few posts back that Saturday was a big day in our household.

A family friend dropped in in the morning and all four of us had haircuts of one sort or another. Emily had the most work done on her hair. She was preparing for her day as a flowergirl for her school teacher’s wedding.

Without a doubt Emily was the most beautiful flowergirl I have ever seen and she carried out her duties perfectly. With the way she was smiling during the ceremony you’d think that she was the one getting married.

James had his own part to play. He got dressed in a black suit, white shirt and silver tie to play the part of the page boy. He looked tremendous. He carried a small pillow with the rings to the front of the ceremony, which was held in a picturesque garden backing onto a river.

As their parents, it was wonderful for Pauline and me to hear all the chatter around us concerning the kids. A few people even wondered if the bride had hired James for the wedding because he looked so good and performed so faultlessly.

On top of that I had the best looking date on the day. Pauline will always be my beautiful bride.

Back to the wedding itself; the bride was beautiful, the groom looked great and everything was just perfect, but you’ll have to excuse me if I seem a little preoccupied with the job that Emily and James did on the day.

  • No need to excuse yourself for being pre-occupied with being a proud Papa! The kidlets have a way of stealing the show, so to speak. My own flower girl and page boy created some of the most memorable moments at my wedding. I remember exactly how they looked walking down the aisle, but for the life of me, I can’t remember a moment of my own walk!

Thanks for stopping in and saying ‘Hi’ at my blog!

  • “you’d think that she was the one getting married.”

Isn’t that the way we ought to be with another’s happiness and ‘big day’? childlike rejoicing!
