We seem to be getting on better every day – but we’re still not speaking to each other.
Every day as I pedal to work I see some familiar faces. I nod at some, say good morning to those close enough to the road to hear me and even give an occasional wave. This is all with people I’ve never met.
One of the most regular faces I see is the guy who takes his two dogs to the nearby park to give them a run. He also takes his tennis racket to slog a few balls across the park for them to chase. Over the past few weeks the good morning waves and nods we’ve exchanged have become more and more animated.
I think that ‘dog man’ thought that ‘bike man’ wasn’t going to see him as he was walking to the park this morning so he raised his racket high in the air to capture my attention. We’ve moved from the very subtle nod, through the wave and right onto the racket wave.
One of these days I reckon I’m going to have to stop and chat for a while. Maybe he’ll even let me throw the ball for the dogs.

Stop and talk…it would be good for you. Maybe you’d make a new friend!
I would love to hear that you stopped and had a little chat with “dog guy”! Aw… do it! (Sweet post, Rodney!)
BTW, I’ve FINALLY gotten around to blogrolling you. I’ll be by more often. I really enjoy your blog!
I am wise to your game Rodney. Start off with a few nods, work up to more obvious acknowledgement, eventually strike up a conversation. Slowly a friendship begins to develop. After a while he finds out you are a Christian. Over time he asks the occasional question about your faith, and BAM!!!!! Suddenly, after only about 10 years, you have converted “dog man” to Christianity!!
Yes, I am on to you. . . . .(keep it up!)
yeah go for it – talk to him Rodney!
That’s what i’ve been experiencing – i’ve been saying hello to this girl who performs accordion in southgate here in Melbourne. In the beginning I only smiled at her, then started saying hello, and now we’re meeting to have coffee together sometimes!
Hello Rodney,
Nice blog you have here!
Found you from Laurens blog and I quite agree with you that she has a fantastic voice. The video clips and photos on her blog are great.
Greetings from wet old England and well done for the cricket!
Kind Regards
Martin
Hi, me again! Thanks for your comment on my blog about Harry Potter…you said the stuff in HP isn’t real, it’s just fantasy. Yes, it is fantasy but the book I read was kind of interesting because it outlined exactly how much Rowling relies on the occult for her book ideas.
I guess fantasy based on reality is more like it.
I like this post Bro. Speaks volumes.
We live in a world where we dont step out and talk (really talk) to one another
