The man who played secret agent Maxwell Smart has died.
This article tells us that Don Adams started his career as a stand up comic before being cast as Agent 86 in the Get Smart series. He was also the voice of Inspector Gadget in the cartoon series.
His health has been failing for some time and reports say that he died on Sunday night.
I’m sure that the many millions of us who watched Get Smart and it’s endless repeats will miss Adams and his humour.

man, that is really too bad. I grew up in the 80s watching Inspector Gadget and the endless Get Smart reruns on cable. Just like the also deceased Gilligan though, his antics will likely outlive all of us thru syndication…
I loved Get Smart, and this morning I was saddened to find out that Don had passed away.
They don’t make comedians like they used to.
That was a great show – and yes, I am old enough to remember when it came out. I wanted to be 99! She was so ultra cool.
Rest in Peace, Don.
I watched every single episode of Get Smart while accompanied by an entire National Guard Regiment.
Ugh..
Would you believe?.I saw as many episodes as I could, together with two heavily armed Local Police Squads.
Ok..
Would you believe?..I glimpsed regular reruns together with a Troup of Boy Scouts carrying pocket knives.
But Get Smart does brings back the fondest memories. It was a regular father and son time between my dad and I, and one that produced outrageous laughter from both of us and always brought us closer together. Weird and wonderful how Don Adams? character Maxwell Smart could have that effect. I miss my father?s laughter.
Thanks for the post Rodney.
I missed this piece of news…
