Early start

I had a wonderful morning yesterday. I was up quite early, put on my cycling gear and headed out just after 6:00 a.m. I met up with a couple of other guys for a ride.

We headed off from our meeting point at 6:30 and got home just after 8:00. We cycled up to Brigadoon and back. It was a ride of just over 44 km in an hour and a half. Excellent.

I got home feeling energised and ready for a full day. I still had time for a nice hot shower and a good breakfast before heading out to church with the family. I was quite amazed really. I had done so much before 8:00 a.m. and most of the day was still ahead of me. I didn’t even know that life existed before 8 o’clock on a Sunday morning.

  • haha, what about the guys that need to help setup church? i’m not sure how it is at other churchs but at ours we have people setting up at 6:30am. i’m there at 7:30 helping out. its amazing though what can be done so early in the morning.

  • Well Matt, just like you guys we meet in a recreation centre so we do need to set up and pack down.

Our service starts at 10:00. We have set up from 8:00.

I wasn’t on set up this week but I was on pack down so the times worked out really well for me. 🙂

  • You inspired me Rodney. I MADE myself get up early enough to go for a ride before work this morning. I have let the early morning rides slip in recent months. I feel more awake and alert today than I have felt in a very long time, so thankyou.

  • Like Matt, I am at church quite often at 7am setting up the sound gear. That means only 1 sleep in, in 7 days as I’m up at 4 every morning for work. I often hear you on your pre-recorded mid-dawn shift Rodney, knowing full well you are tucked up in bed :)Laughs: As I often say, I’m in the wrong job.
