Getting your kicks

Did you watch any footy over the weekend? We saw a bit of the Dockers match and most of the Eagles game. (That’s Australian Rules Football in case you’re wondering.)

It’s amazing what a little knowledge can do. James has been doing Auskick this year. It’s Aussie Rules football for young kids. On Saturday morning they were taught how to do a torpedo kick. At home James watched an Auskick DVD that explained various kicking styles.

His new knowledge gave him a renewed interest in watching football on TV. He watched how the players were holding the ball and how it moved once it was kicked. He then told me what kick they were using every time throughout the games. At times he even sized up the angles and told me what kick might be useful.

I reckon he’s all set for a great football career ….. followed by a career as a footy commentator.
