Does God care?

Erwin McManus is an interesting guy. He has some very interesting ideas. The quote on the front page of his website says, “The greatest enemy to the movement of Jesus Christ is Christianity”. He is very much a follower of Jesus Christ but he hates religion.

I enjoy listening to his weekly podcasts and his new series, Life’s Toughest Questions, is quite challenging. In the first of the series he asks whether God really cares. As the basis for the issues he discusses in this series he has taken tough questions about God from around the world. Some of those questions are from people facing incredibly difficult circumstances, others are from those who are angry at God.

Faith in Jesus might be all well and good but if it doesn’t stand up to scrutiny in the tough times it’s not worth the effort.

If your circumstances have caused you to doubt God or if you have some nagging questions you might like to listen in to the series. You can subscribe to the podcast or simply listen to it on line at the Mosaic Podcast web page. I don’t know how much longer the first message in the series will stay up but you can generally get the last couple of archived messages free of charge if the next one is already posted.

  • I have never been fond of religion, but then I might not have found the right group. I “see” God around me in people, and everyday things. I’m not sure that I need the building.

  • What Joann said. When I look around at all the killing that goes on in the name of religion, I often wonder who gave those people the mandate to speak on behalf of God, especially when many acts of violence in the name of “religion” so blatantly contradict the ten commandments.

  • All the killing that goes on in the name of religion. I know, why just in my street yesterday there was a whole spate of murders in the name of the Indian God for Hot Cross Buns. Don’t know what the world is coming to.

Just out of interest, Joann Landers, which god do you seen in people around you?
