Coping with Cancer

Here in Australia a number of high profile personalities have had amazing come backs from cancer over the past few years. Hearing the stories of people like Kylie Minogue and Delta Goodrem has given a lot of people great hope that cancer doesn’t have to be as scary as it used to be.

Unfortunately we recently had a reminder that cancer is still taking people well before their time. Last Saturday morning millions of people woke to the sad news that actor and singer Belinda Emmett had passed away at the age of just 32. Belinda’s funeral is being held tomorrow at the same church where she married Rove McManus in January last year.

While medical advancements and greater community awareness has helped greatly in the fight against all kinds of cancer, there is still much to be done.

Breast Cancer Foundation of Western Australia is an organisation that supports those people who are facing breast cancer. As part of my radio programme on 98.5 Sonshine FM this morning I had a chat to their Marketing Manager, Lara Standen. If you’d like to hear our discussion you can use the media player below.
