I can't die now – I haven't finished

When they put you in a box and start nailing down the lid, will you be saying, “Wait, there’s still something I’ve got to do?”

None of us know how long we have in this life but we know that we have today or at least this moment of today. What are you doing with the time you’ve been given?

Cindy from Notes in the Key of Life has noted 13 things that she would like to do before she leaves this world. Cindy calls it her Life List and I’m wondering if you have any kind of Life List. It’s got me thinking about what I’d like to achieve before I die.

I’m sure that I could fill pages with lots of things that I’d like to do but today I’ll just write five that are important to me and then I’d like to hear about five things that you’d put on a Life List.

1. To see Emily and James grow up to be the woman and the man they were created to become.
2. I want to grow old with Pauline.
3. I’d like to continue growing in my journey of faith, never becoming complacent, always moving forward and living out what I believe.
4. I’d like to make a difference in the lives of those around me and in the lives of people I’ll never even meet.
5. I want to travel a lot more, especially in India but I’d like to visit many other places.

What about you? Can you name five things that you’d like to do or achieve in this life? Are there relationships you’d like to develop or repair? Are there places you’d like to visit? Is there a particular car you’d like to own? Have you set yourself a goal of achieving a certain sporting challenge?

I’d love to hear what it is that you would place on a Life List. What would you like to do before you die? Just click on the comments link below and leave your thoughts or, if you keep a blog, why not post some stuff on your own blog and leave a link in the comments section of this post?

Finally I’d like to ask, if those things are really important for you, what steps are you taking today to see them become reality?

  • Hi Rodney, that is a good list. Mine is almost the same…

    1. To see Olivia and Natasha grow up to be the women they were created to become.
    2. I want to grow old with Larissa.
    3. I’d like to continue growing in my journey of faith, never becoming complacent, always moving forward and living out what I believe.
    4. I’d like to make a difference in the lives of those around me and in the lives of people I’ll never even meet.
    5. Do an alter call at a crusade in an overflowing sports stadium and seeing thousands come forward to receive Jesus.

  • Frightening question…

#1 – To live together with my partner… before we retire (I did for this: Put my profile online – a little halfhearted – but the team I work in is just great – don´t wanna miss that, either!)
#2 – See my brother and my mother happy (unluckily I can´t do much to this – they are both stubborn…)
#3 – Stay healthy – me and all those I care for (go to the gym regularly, try to have 5 a day)
#4 – Never be without a good job (keep on learning)
#5 – Make sure there is not only work and stress but also fun (–> and be a happy, healthy person)
