Broken

It served me well over many years.

It followed me when I left 98.5 Sonshine FM in 1999 and came back with me two and a half years ago when I returned.

Alas, it is no more.

It only cost a few dollars but coffee may never taste the same.

My long serving coffee mug was broken a day or so back. I don’t even know who broke it, I just saw it laying there, lonely at the bottom of the bin without its handle.

Sitting down with a nice strong cup of black coffee just won’t be the same. There are lots of mugs in the kitchen at work but drinking from another mug really isn’t the same as holding your own mug is it?

Maybe when a little time passes and I’ve had a chance to get over the pain I’ll wander down the road and visit the new year’s sales or perhaps I’ll just rummage through the cupboard at home to find a new work coffee mug.

Do you have your own special mug for coffee or tea at work or do you share a communal collection of cups and mugs? Do you find that your favourite beverage just doesn’t taste right if you don’t have your chosen mug?

Oh well, it was just a mug. I need to get over it. I think I’ll go make myself a coffee.

  • i’m like that with my mug at home. we have probably about a dozen mugs but i always have to use my gigantic yellow sunflower one (even my fiance’s blue sunflower one won’t do–it looks weird when i drink out of it)

  • awww … i know the feeling …

the mug i use at work has the back of a cat on it, and says “i don’t have to be social” … *grin* … course my work buds know i don’t mean it …

  • shame you don’t take milk with your coffee rodney,Then I could say there is no point crying over spilt milk. I know the feeling. I have a couple of favourite football glasses and mugs that I drink out of and beverage always seems to taste better in them.

I hope you find another special cup

  • Yes, it’s wierd how common it is to “have your own mug”. We all do at our office. Maybe we think we will pick up some exotic disease if we use someone else’s mug? I would be very interested to understand the psychology behind this phenomenon.
