Stuey who?

Have you ever been told a secret that is such good news that you wish you could tell everyone and let them join in the celebrations?

You’re so excited but you can’t share that excitement with everyone else.

That’s a bit how I’m feeling at the moment.

As I mentioned in my last post, Stuart O’Grady has become the first Australian to win the grueling Paris-Roubaix one day road cycling classic. To most people it’s no big deal, so even though it’s no secret, there’ll be no dancing in the streets.

For a cyclist like myself, who realises the importance of the win, I’m left wanting to shout it from the roof tops but it doesn’t really do much for anyone else around here. It’s like having your team win a grand final.

Stuey will be the toast of Europe but he’s unlikely to be front page news in his home country. I do hope he gets the recognition he so richly deserves.

I’ve managed to SMS one of my cycling friends who’s also pretty excited about it. I guess it’ll be the hot topic over coffee on Saturday morning after our weekly ride.
