Lufthansa Airbus 320 Landing

I love flying but I’m pretty glad that I wasn’t on this Lufthansa Airbus 320 as it attempted to land in Hamburg.

According to the details with the video on YouTube, Lufthansa flight LH44 from Munich experienced wingstrike while landing at Hamburg on 1 March 2008 during Emma storm. Nobody was injured; the plane landed using another runway.

  • How terrifying and here I have just dropped my husband off at the airport this morning to catch a plane. I’m glad he has already let me know he arrived safely.

  • Gypsy, I’m glad that your husband’s flight was a little smoother. I suppose the comforting thing is that instances like this one are so rare that they make news all over the world when they happen.

I’ll be doing a fair bit of flying in a month so I’m glad that these things don’t happen often. 🙂

  • Yikes! I’m a white-knuckle flier myself, so things like this always make me a bit antsy. (Thankfully, I have no upcoming flights scheduled!) When you consider how many planes are in flight every day, and factor in the small percentage of occurrences such as this, flying is still very, very safe.
