I like my bed

There’s nothing more satisfying than sleeping in your own bed after a couple of days of little sleep.

Sure, I got limited sleep on the plane trips but it was broken sleep and does anyone really get good sleep while sitting upright in a confined space?

My trip home started on Sunday morning in Santo Domingo which was Sunday evening Perth time. I finally touched down in Perth at around 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon. That was after a two hour flight to Miami, a five hour flight to LA, a fourteen and a half hour flight to Sydney and a four and half hour flight to Perth.

I promise that I’ll update the story as soon as my head gets right. I’ve got a few hundred photos and some great audio which I’ll share with you.

I’m off to the movies right now with my family. It was so good to see them when I stepped off the plane and so good to hold them close.

More soon.

  • Welcome home Rodney! I know exactly what you mean. Hubby and I love our bed – there’s nothing like it. Even when we’ve stayed at really nice places there’s still nothing like our bed. And no, you can’t sleep properly in a plane, the best you can hope for is a doze here and there that might stretch into a few hours.

Looking forward to seeing the pics!

  • Three lovely people missed you like crazy in James, Emily & Pauline. I don’t think that Pauline will be letting go of you every again to go away

  • Welcome home Rodney; it’s good to know you are safely restored to your nest. Cant wait to hear all about it! God bless.

  • I agree with you Rodney; after spending 4 weeks going from Motel to Motel, it was good to finally get into my own bed. Look forward to hearing more about your trip.

  • Thanks for the welcome home, Kathie.

It’s lovely to get home to what’s familiar. I only hope that my comfortable lifestyle here in Australia doesn’t get in the way of me communicating the great need that exists in other parts of the world.

  • Zoomz, I’m sure that Pauline will let me go if the need arises. I love being safe at home but if my travels can help highlight the great need in other parts of the world I’ll willingly jump on another plane tomorrow.

  • Helen, it was an amazing experience. Strangely enough there were a lot of reminders of India. I’m sure you would have felt the same way while travelling through the streets seeing the half finished buildings and the plethora of street traders.

  • Thanks Peter. It’s so good to be home. We must catch up for a curry sometime so that you can hear a few more stories.

(By the way … are you going to the Swans match on Friday?)
