Hahaha that cracked me up. Compared to the grunting I’ve received when trying to talk to some teenage guys, that guy’s communication skills were almost good 😉
On the same topic, how did you refine your interview skills Rodney? I have a ‘client’ interview exam coming up and wondered if you had any tips? How do you think of things to say if there’s a bit of a break? Do you prepare a lot before hand?
Good question Sarah. I used to prepare lots of questions for interviews but now I just make sure that I know my topic well and have a conversation.
Don’t be too concerned about gaps in the conversation. Sometimes leaving just a bit of extra time from when the interviewee finishes answering and your next question actually prompts them to start speaking again and going deeper than they did with their initial answer.
If you want to talk some more, just call me at work sometime. I’m happy to discuss it all further.
Thanks for the reply Rodney that pretty much answers my questions. I’ll let you know how it goes. We have to watch the video tape later and mark ourselves as part of it *shudders* It’ll come with practice i suppose
