The Ring of Confidence

Seimens, the German telecommunications company, said today it is developing the first mobile phone that alerts users of bad breath or other offensive odours.

The phone will use a tiny chip measuring less than one millimetre.

A research team is developing the device which examines the air in the immediate vicinity for anything from bad breath and alcohol to atmospheric gas levels.

Obviously some people take smelling good rather seriously.

It’s amazing what phones can do these days. You can use them to take photos, search the internet, play games, keep appointment details, play music, wake you up and heaps more.

Now they’re going to detect smells too. With all those features packed in to these tiny units very soon the only thing our mobile phones won’t do is allow us to make and receive phone calls.
