Just as I was leaving work today (98.5 Sonshine FM) I noticed a couple of 4 wheel drives next door to our studios. They were the 96FM Thunders. They travel around various parts of Perth giving out free stuff.
I switched my radio over to their station, waited a couple of minutes, then they announced on-air where they were and that they were about to give away stuff.
I wandered over, grabbed by bundle, thanked them, and headed off.
I scored a 600ml carton of Egg Nog, a pack of crumpets, a couple of small tubs of YoGo (dairy desert), a magazine, a bag thingy and a couple of discount vouchers. Oh … I shouldn’t forget that I was also given a couple of 96FM stickers. I don’t think I’ll be using them.
Being a radio announcer means that I can’t win stuff from my own station but that doesn’t stop me from getting a few bits and pieces from the other stations in town. Thanks guys.

So when are we going to see the Sonshine FM Datsun 120Y’s? Or perhaps you could peddle round on the treddly and give out free stuff!
The funny thing is, I am using the boss’s work car at the moment while he’s away at a conference.
It’s a reasonably new Verada with big Sonshine FM logos on the doors and our website address on the back window.
I hopped out of that car, grabbed my stuff, then back into the Sonshine FM car and off home.
brilliant!
You caught me, I clicked the hut link–the colors caught my eye and I couldn’t help myself.
I bookmarked this site today, and was happily surprised to find a comment from you at mine. Thanks!
LOL I so would have done the same thing!

Nice one Rodney. Of course I was stuck on air in the studio and couldn’t get down to the cars to receive any freebies. But that’s OK. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be alright. I don’t need anything. No, no, just take your stuff and go. I don’t care. I’ll keep working. Staying loyal to my listeners. It’s ok! 🙂
