A bold experiment in cricket at the WACA today.
The game between Western Australia and Victoria will give each side just 20 overs a side with the bat. It’ll be interesting to see how it affects the game.
When 50 overs a side, one day matches began we saw big changes in the way sides played, with a faster, more exciting brand of cricket. Slashing that 50 overs by more than half should have the game being played at lightning speed.
I must admit that I’m not a big fan of test cricket. I’m always interested in the final score but watching a game that can take 5 days to play and still end up in a draw is beyond me.
The one day games are a bit more watchable (not that I ususally bother) but this Twenty20 game should make things quite exciting. I get the idea that it’ll turn cricket into something closer to the tip and run game we used to play in the back yard.

I have to admit that I’m a bit of a purist. I love a Test Match. Less chance of flukiness winning a game, it’s a true test of a teams resolve.
I love the fact that Warnie is dropping the one-dayers to concentrate on Tests.
